2011 Disaster in Japan

One of the most powerful earthquakes hit the northeastern coast of Japan on Friday, March 11, 2011. Registering at a magnitude of 9.0, the earthquake was followed by a huge tsunami that has nearly erased several towns on the northeastern coast and left over 10,000 people missing or dead. Since March 11, Japanese officials have been battling to control the threats resulting from damaged nuclear plants.
