Before searching a database
How do you know where to begin looking for important information? Consider asking yourself these questions before typing in a search box:
If you need a refresher on reading a scholarly article, review the research guide titled Identify the Major Parts of a Research Article. In particular, review the second tab on the research guide, Anatomy of a Research Article, and hover over the various sections of a research article.
Several terms, either as as keywords or as subject heading phrases, can be used in the search strategies for locating material on ethics. Terms include ethics, bioethics, "medical ethics," "decision making and ethics," or "science and ethics."
You will combine the terms above with additional search terms such as "data security laws," "data security--moral and ethical aspects," "genetic privacy," biomedical, confidentiality, privacy, or "medical decision making."
To search in MULibrary Search, you will want to use the subject heading "medical ethics."
Alt Healthwatch is an alternative health research database including complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. The database offers recent information about the practice of holistic medicine and therapies. Subjects included are: acupuncture, aromatherapy, body work, childbirth, chinese medicine, chiropractic, creative therapies, cross-cultural therapies, energy medicine, herbalism, homeopathy, mind-body medicine, naturopathy, nutrition, and osteopathy.

The Consumer Health Complete database contains consumer-oriented health content, and has topics across the health and wellness spectrum — from mainstream medicine to complementary, holistic and integrated medicine. Full-text journals, magazines, health reference books and evidence-based health reports in the database include: medical images and diagrams, consumer health pamphlets and leaflets from the CDC, FDA, NIH and others, drug information in English and Spanish, and the Merriam-Webster's Medical Desk Dictionary. Consumer Health Complete contains articles on a variety of teen health topics from smoking and sexting to dealing with anger and coping with divorce.
Market research reports in the fields of business to business, healthcare, and consumer markets, compiled from many sources. Topics include consumer behavior, consumer marketing, sports marketing, travel and tourism, and more.
