Before searching a database

How do you know where to begin looking for important information? Consider asking yourself these questions before typing in a search box:

  1. What information do I need to solve my information need(s)?
  2. Who collects this information?
  3. How do I know the information is accurate/correct?
  4. Where can I find this information?
  5. What steps should I take so I can find this information at a later date?

Reading Scholarly Articles

If you need a refresher on reading a scholarly article, review the research guide titled Identify the Major Parts of a Research Article. In particular, review the second tab on the research guide, Anatomy of a Research Article, and hover over the various sections of a research article.
