Guide to the Library for Nursing Graduate Students

  1. Get to know your librarian.
    • The Nursing library liaison is available to help you during your ABSN program, and collaborates with Nursing faculty to understand your assignments and research needs.
    • Research help is available one-on-one via Zoom (video conferencing) appointments, and through phone, email, and IM Chat.
  2. Kick off your research by exploring the Nursing Program research guide
    • The research guide is a gateway to research resources tailored to your needs
  3. Expand your knowledge by borrowing materials from the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC) and beyond.
    • Did you know that you have access to print books owned by Georgetown, George Washington, and American University?  Click here to learn more: WRLC
    • If a book or article isn't owned by any library in the WRLC, we'll get it for you via Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
  4. Take advantage of the 6 week check-out periods for library books.
    • Renewals can be completed online through your library account.
    • Distance Learners can borrow books from MU, and other WRLC universities.
  5. Search smarter with the advanced filters of the MU databases.
    • The super-charged filters allow you to limit search results by date, subject, publication type, and more.
  6. Use a citation tool to manage your literature review and create bibliographies in a snap.
    • Overwhelmed by keeping track of articles? Consider using RefWorks, an online citation manager tool freely available to Marymount students. RefWorks enables you to create your own personal library of sources and export citations and bibliographies.  It even integrates with Google docs and Microsoft Word!
  7. Use online library resources on or off campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
    • Remember that accessing library online information resources from off-campus requires you to sign-in.
  8. Find your way to the quiet of the Graduate Reading Room on the 1st floor of Reinsch Library.
    • Or discover other quiet study nooks throughout the MU library! The whole ground floor of Reinsch Library is reserved for quiet study.
  9. Borrow technology at the library.
    • Laptops and tablets are available at the Reinsch Library on the main campus, and the Ballston Coakley Library Extension (BCLE) at Ballston Center.
