Finding Grey Literature: Government Documents, Technical and Nonprofit Reports: Government Documents

Guide on searching for gray literature (grey literature), including government documents, technical reports, nonprofit literature in various disciplines.

Searching for Government Documents

United States government documents can be issued by federal, state, local, or tribal governments. Documents can include books, technical reports, statistical summaries, maps, surveys, informational brochures, and datafiles. Some reports may be incorporated into larger document portals as listed below, but many will remain with the agency and be archived on their website. To have a comprehensive search, it is important to look at all of these resources.

Also refer to the "Databases" tab and the "Technical Reports and Online Digital Collections" tab for more resources.
